Valparaíso, port and city, is located on the coast of central Chile, just 74 miles from Santiago. This port city is full of history and nostalgia, also described as an urban and architectural curiosity. Valparaiso is a natural bay that is surrounded by a mountain chain that bathes its foothills in the sea and transforms it in an amphitheater that looks towards the Pacific.
Its inhabitants built the city spontaneously, climbing the foothills, turning them into multicolored clusters of houses that defy gravity and vertigo. There are many different building styles, such as great mansions and marble stairs next to small houses that are leaning on wooden poles and finely worked wood next to crudely painted plywood. There are beautiful alleys that lead to never ending stairs, inviting you to discover the amazing labyrinth of Valparaíso.
